The Junior Development ProgramHumber Valley follows the Hockey Canada Long Term Development Program, a world-class program that combines fun with age-appropriate skill development.2. More ice time We limit our teams to two lines instead of three…less time on the bench, more time on the ice! And fewer players means more attention during practices.3. Amazing volunteer coachesAll coaches receive training from our Technical Director and full support from our organization.4. Bonus outdoor iceOld-time hockey! Kids love to play shinny outside in a safe, controlled environment. We have weekly ice times for each team starting in December, attendance is optional. The Novice Program:Earlier in the season, the teams will have a 40-minute practice followed by a 30-minute game. Later in the season we will progress into league play with shorter practices and longer games. Our goal is to maximize ice time in game situations and have individual player attention during practices. As such, we cap the number of players per team (ideally 12 or 13). Humber Valley follows the Hockey Canada Long Term Development Program, a structured curriculum that combines age-appropriate skill development with fun games. The club’s Technical Director oversees the program and provides training support to the coaches. In addition to the regular Saturday program, the players will have the option of outdoor shinny games between the months of December and March at Humber Valley and Westway outdoor rinks. While completely optional, these outdoor games have proven to be incredibly popular with kids. Please register early as we are on a first-come, first-served basis.
